Gigi, HERE ARE TWO BUSINESS CARDS. I did more. But was not happy with them. I chose an orange brown because classy, grounded and deep like you! I decided to play with FR>EN although it was the subtitle of your own design. I made it the name of your "company". Let me know if you like them. And don't forget to brief me. I design blind.

Since I was a young girl, I've had a passion for vampires -and science fiction.
I discovered Anne Rice when i first arrived in the US. I read all her vampire serie in a few weeks. Thanks to her writing I improved my English quite quickly.
This reading marathon was awesome.
My favorite volume was "The Queen of the Damned".

I need more fonts.

I wish I knew when I was young how important dance was in my life. I would have pursued a career in that direction. Even if it was to give up a few years later.

My latest painting. Don't know what I can do with it in term of design. Same as with the other ones. Any ideas?
In "real life" (!) the colors of this painting are much nicer. Here it looks sad.
Paris in the summer is beautiful. And I love the beach on the river.
Don't know how to take a better pix of my paintings. I need a better camera I guess. Anybody knows someone who could take professional pix of my paintings?

This one was treaky in terms of typography. The background (flowery) could make the design look "cheezy" --like the Hallmarks cards.
Don't know about the color of the typo.
FYI: this design is a combination of 3 pix I took, and I drew on top of it.Done in Photoshop.

I had fun playing with this concept of design. When I started drawing on it and adding my pix of flowers, I got a kick out of it. When i was younger I was passionate about science fiction and fantasy. Manon 's face emerging from flowers and from a wall in Soho looks surreal. It stimulates my imagination. It could be the beginning of a short novel. I'd like to tap more into that side of me. (the fantastic). I stay too close to the ground. I need some e-le-va-tion.

I have to search for some creative journals and diaries to get some inspiration. My complaint: I don't have the time to seat and think creatively. Everything goes so fast. I also would like to get some ideas from people. Brainstorm. You're never as good alone as in a group. Hopefully tonight will help me do that.

I could organize my diary in different sections:
Family and friends (dynamics, emotions, thoughts, needs, etc),
Community (what I see in the street, the news/events--for exampe there was a rape two weeks ago near where I live and a guy a week ago really scared me by playing a bit of hide and seek with me while walking the dog late and that made me ponder about violence subjected on women),
Art (my own) or do something around an artist I like,
Ideas of businesses,
My own visual identity (cards, website, ...) for a potential future business.

I am thinking of it as an exhibition. I could have different types of supports/medias and forms of presentations. I'd love to have a sculpture, painting, design, video, music, photography.

Ideally I'd like to work with someone who has great writing skills so that my messages are more powerful, poetic and straight to the point.

Ciel! Ma classe de silk screening!

Tomorrow is my silk screning class. It gives me anxiety: I am behind! I chose to do in the first two classes something difficult in silk screening -photography- and I messed up. F@%&! I hate to b behind.

I thought about quitting. I don't like that. Quitting.

So here is what I'll try to do in the next few weeks. Take a previous design. Improved. Only 2 colors. Flat. Hopefully it will be easier. And I'll try not to be bothered by the uncooperative and unfriendly group of people attending the class.

This is Ivy's Tatoo. My dentist. Who does ballroom dancing. And who I went to see performing last Saturday at the Crown Plaze, Time Square with the girls. it's on her back from the neck to the butt.
Ivy has been struck by several unfortunate events but she has always been keeping a strong appetite for life.
She amazes me.

A poet in the family

Iliade wrote poems compiled in a book called "Cherry Topped Poems".
She has been struggling with writing for years... Never liked reading. Is even on the dyslexic side. So you can imagine how happily surprised we were when she presented us with her book of poems. I was in awe in front of her poetic writing. Inspired by her talent, I decided to do a book cover for her project. I'll do a design with one of her poem.

NB: I'll add new cover versions as my inspiration flows.
